Bio

Gordon Earl Jacobs the son of Vernon Edwin and Flora (Spurling) Jacobs was born August 26, 1930 at Edgar, Nebraska. He departed this life on Sunday, January 9, 2011 at the Rose Brook Care Center in Edgar, Nebraska at the age of 80 years. At the age of 17 Gordy joined the United States Navy in 1947 and made a 28 year career retiring in 1975 after serving during both the Korean and Vietnam Wars as a Master Chief. Gordy was united in marriage to Vera Hartford in Maryland in 1954. Vera preceded him in death in 1986 and Gordy then married Linda Anderson on August 8, 1988 in Grand Island, Nebraska. After the being honorably discharged from the Navy, Gordy returned to his childhood home of Edgar, Nebraska and owned and operated the Open Door Bar during the 1970's. He also owned and operated his own custom baling operation which he ran until 2000. Gordy and his family did wood cutting for many years which he cut, split and sold in the Edgar community. In his spare time Gordy enjoyed playing cards at the Edgar card room and made trips to Ong to play cards as well. He never however allowed any of these to diminish his first love that for his wife and family. He dearly cherished the time spent with his grandchildren. Gordy is preceded in death by his parents, wife Vera; brothers Duane, Dan and Jerry, and his sister Alice. Survivors include his wife Linda Jacobs of Edgar, NE; brothers Arlie and Russell Jacobs; daughters Brittini Schuldt and husband Dan of Doniphan, NE; Vera Hardman of Las Vegas, NV; DeeDee Angel; grandchildren: Logan, Whitney and Brice Schuldt, Heather Kelley, Athea Cantars; Katherine Belcher and Mickie Angel, and a host of relatives and friends.
