Lois Irene Hood, 80, of Kearney, Nebraska, died Thursday, January 6, 2011, at Cambridge Court Assisted Living. She was born March 21, 1930, at Broken Bow, Nebraska, to Elmer and Evelyn (Moody) McCaslin. Lois attended school in Broken Bow. Lois was united in marriage to George Curtis in 1951, in Broken Bow. Six children were blessed to this union; Clyde, Kenneth, Keith, Dawn, Laura and Pam. She was then united in marriage to Herman Hood on July 5, 1967 in Broken Bow, Nebraska. He died on April 15, 1970. Lois was a homemaker and spent her time raising her six children. Lois lived in Broken Bow for many years before moving to Blaine County in 1967 and in 1968 she moved to Anselmo. In 1980, Lois moved to Grand Island and from there lived in various places including Lexington and then moving to Kearney in 2010. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting and cross-stitching. Lois also loved collecting porcelain dolls. Lois was a member of the Assembly Of God Church in Beatrice. Survivors are: sons: Clyde and wife Joyce Curtis of Pawnee City, Nebraska Kenneth Curtis of Lincoln, Nebraska Keith Curtis of Grand Island, Nebraska; daughters: Dawn Potter of Kearney, Nebraska Laura and husband Randy Prall of Alliance, Nebraska Pam and husband Wayne DeLancey of Lincoln, Nebraska; brother: Wesley and wife Susan McCaslin of Lake Charles, Louisiana; sisters: Mary Jo Hinman of Omaha, Nebraska Sharroll Bishop of Taylor, Nebraska Bernice Brooks of Moscow, Idaho Elizabeth and husband Larry Bobbitt of Omaha, Nebraska Donna Rasmussen of Toledo, Oregon Nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Lois was preceded in death by her parents, husbands George Curtis and Herman Hood; sister Susan Grint and grandson James Curtis.
