James "Jim" Marshall Daniel was born November 21, 1869 in Cook County, Texas, son of William Mack Daniel and Jane Anderson of Sanger, Texas. He married in Marion County, Texas March 31, 1895, to Sallie White Cromer, daughter of John Cromer and Mary Price. Jim and Sallie had a total of 9 children: Herman Bass, Robert Cates, William Cannon, Jessie Claude, James Boyce, Jap, and Joe Baley. Jim and Sallie bought a section of land between Linden and Hughes Springs, Texas, near the Mill Creek Community. They built a colonial type home and reared seven of the nine children there. Jim was a farmer, rancher and liked fox hunting. Jim and Sallie were active in the Church of Christ in their community. Jim was also a deacon in the Church. Jim and Sallie Daniel loved having their friends and family in their home and often prepared lunch for the ready to lend a helping hand to any one in their Community.
