Arizona Republic - Phoenix, Arizona Thur., Dec. 15, 1983 Ira A. "Butch" Gale SAFFORD: Ira A. Butch" Gale, 64, who had been a sheetmetal worker at Phelps Dodge for 20 years, died Dec. 13, 1983, at the University of Arizona Health Sciences Center, Tucson. Mr. Gale, of Safford, was born in Franklin, where he attended elementary and high schools. He served in the Navy in World War II and moved to Morenci in 1957 to work for Phelps Dodge. He moved to Safford in 1977, when he retired. Survivors include his wife, Susie; daughters, Sarah B. Elkins and Charlotte Reynolds; sons, J. Bart and I. Keith; mother, Minerva Gale; two sisters and a brother, 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Friends may call today from 3 to 9 p.m. at Caldwell Funeral Home, Safford, and Friday from 1 p.m. until services at 2 p.m. at the Duncan Ward Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. .
