Funeral Services for Lillian S. Thompson, age 91, of Bloomfield will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 10, 2009 at Christ Memorial United Methodist Church in Bloomfield. Reverend Tim Pratt will officiate with burial in the Bloomfield City Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 10:30 A.M. until 12:30 P.M. at Christ Memorial United Methodist Church in Bloomfield. Brockhaus Funeral Home of Bloomfield is in charge of Arrangements. Lillian Sylvia (Kliment) Thompson, 91, was born on October 7, 1918, on a farm in Valpraiso, Nebraska, the seventh of eight children, to Mary and Louis Kliment. She attended country school District 102. In 1937, she married Leon D. "Red" Thompson in Bloomfield. They worked in the grocery business for 32 years, 28 of those years were in Bloomfield. They purchased a motel in Sterling, Kansas, and ran it for 15 years. Lillian and "Red" had five children born to them. Upon retirement in 1980, they moved back to Bloomfield. Leon passed away on February 2, 1994. They were married 57 years. Lillian was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church and belonged to UMW, Walking Club, Degree of Honor, Legion Auxiliary, prayer group and enjoyed many types of volunteer work. Always very creative, she enjoyed sewing, embroidery, appliqué quilting, as well as many other types of crafts. She always had a hand in creative skits and costumes whenever the occasion arose. She loved life and set an example for living it with grace, gusto, good will and good humor. She died on Thursday, December 3, 2009 at the Good Samaritan Center in Bloomfield. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Susan of Wichita, KS; her son, Doug and his wife Barbara (Johnson) of Clarkston, WA; granddaughter, Nicole and her husband, David Cone, of Clarkston, WA, 4 great grandchildren; a sister, Edna Kaiser, 101, of O'Neill, NE; a brother, Louis Kliment, 97, of Atkinson; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Leon; children, Stanley and Sandra Jean,who died in infancy and David Alan who died in 1990. Memorials may be made to the Methodist Church or Bloomfield Medical Clinic.
