Funeral services for Mrs. Mildred Patton Deerdoff, 76, of Mexia, will be conducted Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock in Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Marcus Sheffield, pastor of First Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Cotton Gin Cemetery. Visitation with family is scheduled for this evening from 6 until 8 o'clock at the funeral home. Mrs. Deerdoff, born Feb. 4, 1926, in Cotton Gin, died Monday. She was a graduate of Mexia High School and attended college in Georgetown. For most of her life, she was an Executive Secretary in Dallas, and was a retired employee of the Army/Air Force Exchange Service. Mrs. Deerdoff is remembered as a devoted Christian, and was known to always be helping friends and family, never puttikng herself before others. Family members say she was a caring wife, loving mother, and "the very best Granny on Earth." She was preceded in death by her parents, Cotton Gin pioneers Joie S. and Gertie E. Patton; and by four brothers - Leland, I.O., Leonard and Roy Patton. Surviving are her husband of 56 years, Glenn Deerdoff; two brothers, Ed Patton of Cotton Gin, and Oscar Patton of Mexia; two sisters, Ruby Miller of Mexia and Lonnie Marshall of McKinney; a daughter and son-in-law, Glenda and Jimmy Dixon; a son, Rusty Deerdoff; a granddaughter, Shannon Addison and husband Blaine; a grandson, Lance Talkington, and a great-grandson, Blake Patrick Addison.
