Bio

Gladys Marie Looka, 73, of Ballinger passed away in the early hours on Thursday, July 9, 2009 at Ballinger Memorial Hospital. She was born November 26, 1935 in Westphalia, Texas to Charlie H. and Steffie (Smetana) Looka. Her parents preceded her in death. She lived in the area all her life and will be remembered by many as a waitress at Lowake Steak House. She graciously and happily served hungry diners there for over 20 years. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rowena. For the past six years Gladys had been a resident of Ballinger Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. Surviving are her brother, Charlie Looka, Jr. and wife, Jeanie, of San Angelo; nephews, Howard Looka and wife, June, and Roger Looka and wife, Lori, of San Angelo; niece, Susan Looka and friend,Vince Sikes, also of San Angelo. She is also survived by great-nephews and great-nieces, Jordan, Nicole, Cody, Matthew, Garrett, and Kolton. Rosary will be recited on Friday, July 10 at 7:00 p.m. at Lange Funeral Home Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary, Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Ballinger on Saturday, July 11 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Hugh Wade officiating.
