Robertson, young Athens man who was shot to death shortly after midnight Friday in the lobby of the Henderson County jail, were held Sunday afternoon at 4 o'clock at the First Methodist Church, with interment following in the City Cemetery. The services were conducted by the Rev. Kermit Hollingsworth, pastor of the church, with interment following in the City Cemetery. Pallbearers were Fred Stone, Jake Townley, Beauford Callaway, Pete Loden, Gynn Boswell, Ormond Palmer, Gurley Sanders and James Grant. The Hassell and Foster Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Robertson was born on May 28, 1918, in Rains County, and moved to Athens when he was eight years of age. He served for four years in the Marine Corps during World War II, eighteen months of that time in the Pacific theater. Mr. Robertson, a graduate of Athens High School, class of 1941, had been employed by the Athens Home & Auto Supply since leaving the service. He was married to the former Miss Anna Mary Hallum of Athens on December 29, 1942. He was popular among the young people in Athens, and was a member of the American Legion and manager of the Legion softball team. Surviving are his wife; one daughter, D'anne Robertson; mother Mrs. J.A. Bolin of LaRue; three brothers, Dewey Robertson of Athens, Fred Robertson of Malvern, Arkansas, and G.W. Robertson of Los Angeles, California; seven sisters, Mrs. A.L. English of Dallas, Mrs. H.H. Trowell of Fort Worth, Mrs. Homer Chaney of Marshall, Miss Alta Fay Robertson of Garland, Mrs. Larry Sharp and Mrs. Tommie McRoberts of Los Angeles, and Mrs. Lowey Medford of Athens.
