Bio

Curtis Burford Carder, 91, died at his home in Tryon on November 29, 2010. His funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, December 3, 2010 at the Assembly of God Church in Tryon, Oklahoma. Interment will follow at the Tryon Cemetery in Tryon, Oklahoma. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. He was born on April 6, 1919 to James Wilburn Carder and Rhoda Agusta Thornton Carder in Seagoville, Texas. He was married to Betty Frances Moore on January 18, 1942 at Pleasant Valley. She preceded him in death on November 8, 1980. On November 16, 1985, he was married to Minnie Agnes Maxwell in Midwest City, Oklahoma. For years Curtis drove the Perkins-Tryon School Buses and enjoyed the kids a great deal. During summer months, he drove a bus to the Cushing Swimming Pool for all the Tryon children on his own time and money. He loved to fish and spend time on the Oklahoma lakes. For 16 years, he and his wife, Minnie, lived at Lake Texoma. In 1998 they sold their home at Lake Texoma and returned to their home in Tryon, where they continued to go the area lakes and ponds and enjoyed their fishing. He loved the outdoors and always raised the most beautiful garden each summer. Another one of his hobbies was mushroom hunting. Curtis loved his family and enjoyed being a prankster. He always had something to pull. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Francis Carder; his father, James W. Carder; his mother, Rhoda A. Carder; two brothers, James C. Carder and Carl Mansil. He is survived by wife, Minnie A. Carder; one daughter, Jeanette Breeden; one son-in-law, Frank Breeden; three stepsons, Larry Maxwell, Donald Maxwell, and L.D. Maxwell; two stepdaughters, Francis Neely and Sharon McKinnon; four sisters, Kathren Castlebery, Heraldean Westfall, Georgia Santin, and Christine Kuykendall; eight grandchildren, Jeanene Harris, Stacey Jones, Chelsea Breeden, Todd Neely, Ryan Lucas, J.J. Maxwell, Shellie Lynch, Andrea Maxwell; nine great-grandchildren, Ryan Howard, Charles Hinkle, Jesse Hinkle, Kirsten Jones, Meagan Jones, Jourdyn Hennessey, Alyssa Cannon, Justin Wilson, and Cameron Wilson; 11 great-great grandchildren, Blayne Howard, Koden Howard, Brogan Howard, Bryson Howard, Mikayla Howard, Mara McCutchen, Sadie Hinkle, Delaney Hinkle, Sierra Hinkle, Caleb Hutton, and Mya Hutton; and many nieces, nephews and wonderful friends. Pallbearers will include: Larry Maxwell, L.D. Maxwell, Donald Maxwell, Ryan Howard, Charles Hinkle, and Jesse Hinkle. Honorary pallbearers will include: John Paul Jones, Tony Starling, Ronnie Howard, and Charles (Chuck) Hinkle, Kim Brockmoller and Larry Moore.
