Mount Pleasant Daily Tribune 2 December 2010 (Thursday) Charlie P. Groom, 84, of Mount Pleasant, died Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2010, in Mount Pleasant. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, at South Jefferson Baptist Church with Bro. Tommy Oglesby, Steve Cochran and Robby Cochran officiating. Interment will follow at Liberty Hill Cemetery under the direction of Bates-Cooper-Sloan Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Kyle Perry, Bill Perry, Charley Bradley, Ricky Foster, Michael Schindler, Billy Clark and Benny Redfearn. Honorary pallbearers are Buddy Price, Phillip Cochran, Danny Cochran, Carol Wilson, and David Hooper. Mrs. Groom was born on June 25, 1926, in Mount Pleasant, the daughter of Samuel Cochran and Callie Raney Cochran. She was a retired school teacher and a member of South Jefferson Baptist Church. She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Doyle of Mount Pleasant; grandchild, Jeb Doyle of Mansfield; a sister, Lula Howard of San Antonio; and a sister-in-law, Joann Cochran of Longview. She was preceded in death by her husband, Durwood Groom; her parents; three brothers and two sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews.
