"Grand Island Daily Independent" [Grand Island, Hall Co., NE], 3 Aug 1964: Wm Sielaff Succumbs William C. Sielaff, 808 W. 7th Street, died this morning at a local hospital Mr. Sielaff had entered the hospital Sunday. Services will be held Thursday morning at 10:30 from Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. O. A. Graebner, officiating. Interment will be in the Grand Island Cemetery. Visitation hours will be held Wednesday evening from 7-9 at the Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home. Mr. Sielaff, son of Adolph and Therese Sell Sielaff, was born May 8, 1882 at Chicago, Ill. He moved with his parents to Nebraska at the age of five. Mr. Sielaff farmed as a young man. He married Marie Ruff 29, 1907 at Grand Island. The family made their home on a farm near Ravenna until 1913 when they moved to Grand Island. In 1932 Mr. Sielaff entered into a partnership in the Holmann and Sielaff gas and oil station. He continued in this capacity until 1945 when he retired. Mr. Sielaff was a member of Trinity Lutheran church. He was baptized in the Lutheran faith at Chicago and confirmed at Ravenna. Survivors include his wife, Marie, one son, Delmar, Sr. Three grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Two brothers, George, Ravenna, and Robert, Ainsworth. Numerous nieces and nephews. __________ "Grand Island Daily Independent" [Grand Island, Hall Co., NE], Aug 1964: Sielaff Rites Held Thursday Funeral services for William Sielaff were held Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. O. A. Graebner officiating. Pallbearers were: William Fila, Leonard Fila, Leon Lucas, Marion Codner, Edward Ruff and Kenneth Lyon. Burial was in Grand Island Cemetery. Present from out of the city were: Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Bamesberger of Hampton; Rev. and Mrs. Carl Tiemann, Palmer; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Koester, Lincoln; Mr. and Mrs. George Sielaff and Mrs. Fred Sielaff, Ravenna; Harry Stein and Mrs. Stella Witrock, Sidney; Mr. and Mrs. Leon Lucal, Central City; Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Fuss, Cotesfield; Mrs. Rose Fuss of Ord and friends from St. Libory. ____________________ Note: The Veteran's Hospital located on Broadwell Street in Grand Island, NE, is located on a 27-acre tract of land that originally belonged to William Sielaff.
