Bio

Marjorie Francis (Wellington) Wilke, 95, of Seward, formerly of Lincoln and Staplehurst, died Friday, Dec. 3, 2010, at Heartland Retirement Home in Seward. Marjorie was born Oct. 26, 1915, in Loup County to Charles and Lulu (Warn) Wellington. On April 6, 1935, she married Donald D. Wilke. He preceded her in death. Survivors are: children, Robert Wilke and his wife, Delores, of Staplehurst, Richard Wilke and his wife, JoAnn, of Kearney, Phyllis Kay Wilke of Jackson, Tenn., and Debra Seibert and her husband, Martin, of Johnston, Iowa; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brother, Robert Wellington of Portland, Ore.; sisters-in-law, Verna Wellington of Hillsboro, Ore., and Rose Wilke of Underwood, Minn.; and many nieces and nephews. Marjorie worked in food service at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Student Union and Kings Food Host in Lincoln. She and Don spent many winters in Mission, Texas. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; sisters and their husbands, June and Virgil Vassile, Fay and Alfred Copper and Pauline and Bill Voss; sister-in-law, Jerry Wellington; and great-grandchildren, David Brooks and Amanda Johnson.
