Bio
Gene died Saturday, December 4, 2010, at the Butler County Healthcare Center in David City. Gene was born September 9, 1932, in Bruno, Nebraska to Bohumil "Ben" and Mary(Macholan) Docekal. He graduated from Brainard High School and attended Business College. In 1951 he entered the United States Air Force and served during the Korean Conflict. On October 26, 1957, he married Donna Stara at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Bruno. They lived in Brainard until moving to David City in 1994. Gene had worked at the Bank of Brainard, was an Independent Insurance Agent and recently did Tax Preparation for many people. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and had served in the Brainard Legion, the Commercial Club and Rotary and had been a scoutmaster. Gene is survived by his wife, Donna of David City, one daughter, Tami(Bernie) Helgoth, Bruno, one son, Rick(Pam) Docekal, Chandler, Arizona, a sister, Betty(Lad) Hanus, Omaha. five grandchildren, Kara Woehler, Kendra Bevans, Shawna Keller, Ridge and Kennedy Docekal and five great-grandchildren, Brayden, Landon and Karlie Woehler and Jace and Myla Keller. He was preceded in death by his parents.
