Asa Edward was born on February 7, 1897 in Wood County to Joseph Henry and Judith Louise Dickson, pioneer Wood County settlers. On August 29, 1925, he married Marguerite Vannoy. He was employed with Farmers Cotton Oil Company as a bookkeeper and office manager for 50 years- from 1922 until his retirement in January of 1972. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where he was a Sunday school teacher, treasurer, and deacon. Mr. Dickson served in the US Army during World War I and was a member of the American Legion. He was the father of one daughter. He died February 10, 1988 at his residence at the age of 91.
