On April 27th, 2009, Jodie Wright Grayless joined his bride Ann Malinowski Grayless at the throne of their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ . He was born Jan 8, 1921 in Fouts, Liberty County, Texas to Wright Naviel (Fuzz) and Jennie Margaret Simmons Grayless. He was a wonderful and loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, great great grandfather, brother,neighbor and friend. Though grieving in their loss, his family celebrates his life. He is survived by two children:his son Jodie Naviel Grayless and wife Catherine, of Canyon Lake, TX and daughter Gayle Walsh and husband Stephen of Nashville, TN. He adored his grandchildren: Jason, Jenny, and Charles Grayless, Cody and Kili Walsh, Christina Marshall and Michelle Kulczycki; brothers Arnold and Edward Grayless; great grandchildren, Brody Grayless, Briana Weirz, and Keifer and Lily Marshall; and great great grandchildren, Kylie and Hayden Weirz. Joe served his country in the US Army Signal Corps. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Richmond, TX, and served as a deacon. He retired from Lamar Consolidated Schools 8 days before turning 80 years old. In later years, he enjoyed visiting his family and eating breakfast with the "Whatageezers". Funeral Services are 12 Noon on Saturday, May 2, 2009 at First Baptist Church, 502 S. 5th St. in Richmond, TX, with the Rev. Dr. John Lockhart officiating the services. Burial will follow in Morton Cemetery, Richmond, TX. Visitation for friends is from 5pm - 7pm Friday, May 1, 2009, at the First Baptist Church in Richmond, TX. Memorials may be given in his memory to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 570127/Houston, TX 77257-0127.
