Bio
Merle McKinney was born March 22, 1918, in Fairfield, Utah County, Utah, the youngest of eight children born to Lehman Jacob McKinney and Daisy Rebecca Carson. She was baptized a member of the LDS Church on October 10, 1926, and served in several of its organizations throughout her life. Merle married Lloyd Elmo Strong on June 14, 1938, in Lehi, Utah County. They were the parents of six children. In 1940, they lost a daughter, Kathleen, at the age of two days. Merle was a former employee at the Utah State Training School. Her great love was children. Merle died at the age of 72 on September 17, 1990, at her home in American Fork, Utah County. Funeral services were held on the following Thursday in the Alpine City Cemetery, under the direction of the Anderson & Sons Mortuary, American Fork.
