Bio

Jerrell L. Wingo, 84, passed away at the Ennis Care Center on Thursday, Thanksgiving Day, November 25, 2010. Jerrell was born on July 4, 1926 to John L and Mamie Mae (Bond) Wingo in Red Oak, Texas. He grew up in Rice, Texas and graduated from Rice High School. He was married to Mildred (Kriska) Wingo from February 12, 1944 until her death on June 19, 1996. He married Bessie Cameron on November 23, 1997. He served his country proudly in the United States Army in the European Theatre. He worked for Safeway for around twenty-five years as a store manager and then for Hesser's Drug Store for more than twenty years. He was a member of St. John Catholic Church and served as a Eucharistic Minister. He was also a member of the VFW, was past Mayor-Pro Tem of Ennis and member of the Optimist Club. He is survived by his wife, Bessie C. Wingo of Ennis: one daughter: Janelle and her husband, Jimmy Houdek of Ennis: daughter in-law; Angie Juenemann: two step-sons; Charles Cameron of Denton and Maxwell Cameron and his wife, Mindy of Seattle Washington: five grandchildren; Jerry Lynn Wingo, Michele Barrow, Courtney Tenpenny, Dawn Mitchell and Jenna Rejcek: two step grandchildren; Olivia and Justine Cameron and eight great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by Mildred Wingo and two sons, Jeff Wingo on October 30, 1993 and Jerry Wingo on May 10, 1995. Visitation will be on Sunday, November 28, 2010 from 4 p.m. until Rosary at 5 p.m. at J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis. A celebration of his life will be held on Monday, November 29, 2010 at 2 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis with interment to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
