According to his death certificate (Fannin Co., TX, #63893; Mrs. Elsie Smith, wife, informant; www.familysearch.org), Rhea was born in Bailey, Texas, one of 8 children of Sample SMITH and Lula TEFTELLER. He was a retired service station operator. Although family sources indicate his name was spelled RHEA, his grave marker clearly shows RAY.
