Bio

A memorial service for Fred Darwin Hattan, 69, will be conducted at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, November 20, 2010, at the Wheatland Bible Church in Wheatland, Wyoming, with Pastor Denzil G. Mauk officiating and military honors accorded. Inurnment will be held privately in the Chugwater Cemetery near Chugwater, Wyoming. He died Sunday, November 14, 2010, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Fred was born July 22, 1941, in Torrington, Wyoming, the son of Fred Eugene and Bertha Leona (Jenkins) Hattan. He was reared and educated in Chugwater, graduating from Chugwater High School in 1960. A year or so after graduation, he joined the United States Army and served in Germany. He returned to the Chugwater-Wheatland area after his honorable discharge and worked as a ranch and farmhand until his retirement. Fred married Eleanor M. Riggle in Wheatland on December 8, 1982. He enjoyed reading westerns as well as watching western movies and football on television. Fred loved his faithful dog and companion, Tipper. Survivors include his mother of Cheyenne, Wyoming; two sisters, Janet Hattan of Cheyenne and Julia Norlin of Gillette, Wyoming; two nephews and one niece. He was preceded in death by his father; two brothers, James and Harry Hattan; and a sister, Judy Hattan. Memorials to a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Gorman Funeral Homes – Platte Chapel. Vietnam - U.S. Army PFC - Served in Germany
