L D Quassa Jr. SHERMAN - L D Quassa Jr., age 80, passed away Sunday, Nov. 14, 2010 at Texas Health Presbyterian-WNJ in Sherman. Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church in Savoy. A private interment will be held later at Cedarlawn Memorial Park. Mr. Quassa is survived by his daughters, Nelda Edwards of Howe and Bonnie Nabors of Crandall; sisters, Norma Smith of Savoy and Betty Welch of Hendrix, Okla.; three grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren. Mr. Quassa was born February 26, 1930 in Denison, the son of L D and Edna Jewel (Baird) Quassa Sr. He married the love of his life, Dorothy Smith, on September 2, 1950. He retired from the MKT Railroad with over 25 years of service. L D loved to go to any type of auction or estate sell. He enjoyed to cook, especially brownies, and to make jelly. L D also enjoyed the outdoors. He was an avid gardener and hunter. He loved people as much as life. L D was a member of NARVRE, Masonic Lodge of Bells #798 and the Savoy First Baptist Church. He was a loving dad, grandfather, brother and friend. L D will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Mr. Quassa is survived by his beloved family; daughter, Nelda Edwards and husband Mike of Howe; daughter, Bonnie Nabors and husband, Roy of Crandall; grandchildren, Chris and Sharon Edwards of Saginaw, Mindy and Scott Loveton of Arlington, Carolyn and John Cherry of Howe; three stepgrandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and five stepgreat-grandchildren; sisters, Norma Smith of Savoy and Betty Welch of Hendrix, Okla., as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, church family and his Masonic brothers. Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, November 18, 2010 at First Baptist Church in Savoy. Family visitation will be held after the service at the church. A private interment will be held later at Cedarlawn Memorial Park.
