Bio
Mable E. Bean, 89, of Cozad died Sunday, Nov. 14, 2010, at Golden Living Center in Cozad. Mable was born March 23, 1921, at Arnold to Malcom and Helga (Berg) Magnuson. On May 2, 1942, she married Francis "Skeet" Bean in Las Vegas. He died in April 2004. Survivors are: sons, Charles Bean of Cozad and Mitchell Bean and his wife, Katie, of Kearney; daughter, Peggy Maack and her husband, Roger, of Cozad; grandchildren, Todd Bean and his wife, Stacey, of Atlantic, Iowa, Tonya Weatherly and her husband, Randy, and Marla Holen and her husband, Shawn, all of Cozad, Greg Maack and his wife, Sue, of Eaton, Colo., Jeff Bean of Toledo, Ore., and Allie Bean of Omaha; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Robert Magnuson and his wife, Audrey, of Bayard; and a host of relatives and friends. She attended school at Arnold. Francis was serving in the U.S. Navy at the time they were married. Upon his discharge in 1945, the couple made their home on the Bean family farm at Arnold. The couple moved to Cozad in 1956. In the late 1950s, Mable began work for Nebraska Plastics, a job she had for nearly 10 years. She was a longtime member of Cozad Christian Church. Mable was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for more than 50 years. She enjoyed spending time in her garden and canning. In later years, the couple enjoyed traveling, which included family and military reunions. She especially cherished time spent with her family; they would often host large family gatherings on Sundays. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; daughter-in-law, Sharon Bean in 2008; great-granddaughter, Emily Bean in 1997; brothers, Glen and Johnny; sister, Ellen; and an infant brother.
