Bio

John R. Prochaska, 83, of David City, formerly of Dwight, died Sunday, Nov. 14, 2010, in David City. John was born Aug. 18, 1927, to Frank T. and Agnes (Bradley) Prochaska, in Butler County. John was a Korean War Veteran, a lifetime member of the Dwight American Legion Post #110 and Catholic Workman, and a former member of the Dwight Volunteer Fire Dept. He served on the Butler County Veteran Service Board for 30 years, was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, in David City, and a former member of Dwight Assumption Catholic Church. He was employed with the Butler County Road Department for over 30 years. John was united in marriage to Annabelle "Jackie" Jaax on June 14, 1958, in Shelby. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; two sisters; and son-in-law, Jeff Abel. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Annabelle "Jackie," of David City; son and daughter-in-law, Ron J. and Linda Prochaska, of Dwight; daughters and sons-in-law, Denise and Ernie Buresh, of Dwight, Carol and Dean Fiala, of Wahoo, Nancy Prochaska, of Friend; grandchildren, Megan, Nate and Matt Prochaska, AJ and wife, Valerie, Chris and fiance', Jenna, Lacey and Kelsey Buresh, Jamie, Derek and Shauna Fiala; great grandchildren, Nicole, Logan, Brittney and Jacob Buresh; sister, Rose Prochaska, of Omaha; sister-in-law, Pat Prochaska, of Omaha; and many nieces, nephews and many friends. Visitation will be Noon-4 p.m. Tuesday, at Zabka Funeral Home and one hour prior to the rosary and the Mass at the Church. There will be a 7 p.m. rosary/prayer service, Tuesday, at Assumption Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, at Assumption Catholic Church in Dwight. Celebrant Father Sean Timmerman will be officiating. Graveside service and interment will be at the Assumption Catholic Cemetery. Memorials suggested to the family for future designation. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Zabka Funeral Home in Seward.
