Mildred Chapman Funeral services for Mildred Chapman, 87, of Sulphur Springs were held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 19, in Brashear Cemetery with the Rev. Gene Gordon officiating. Burial was in Tira Cemetery with David Haley, Danny Haley, Denny Vessel, Greg Johnson, Chip Vaughn, and Ruben Escobedo as pallbearers. Mrs. Chapman died at 8 p. m., Thursday, June 15, at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital. She was born March 10, 1908, in Tira, the daughter of Albert Horn and Viola Smith Horn. She married Valton Chapman on Aug 28, 1926 in Tira. He preceded her in death in 1979. Mrs. Chapman was a homemaker and a member of Tira United Methodist Church. Survivors include three daughters, Gae Lou Haley of DeSoto, June Vessel of Campbell and Betty Sue Johnson of Dallas; a brother, George Horn of Fort Worth; a sister Lucille Spencer of Birthright; two granddaughters; four grandsons; and seven great-grandchildren.
