IOWA PARK — Otha Ray Brookshire, age 82, longtime Iowa Park resident, died Sunday, September 19, 2010, in Wichita Falls, Texas. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 25, 2010, at Grace Tabernacle Church in Iowa Park with Pastor Kendall Graves officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home. Ray was born July 12, 1928, in Bluegrove, Texas, to Ross L. and Cora Faye Truitt Brookshire. He married Beatrice Bennett who preceded him in death April 13, 2009. He was retired from the maintenance department of Certain-Teed Corporation. He was also a self employed roofer and carpenter. He was a member of Grace Tabernacle Church. His parents; wife; daughter, Audrey Brookshire Duggins; sons, Terry and Bennett; and sisters, Dorothy Faye Johns and Mary Pearl Meador proceeded him in death. He is survived by his children, Peggy Lance and husband, Ken of Iowa Park, Mikel Budge Brookshire and wife, Geneva of Alvin, Texas, James Randal Brookshire of Wichita Falls, Texas, Harold Tracy Brookshire and wife, Laura of Cleburne, Texas, Jeffrey Clark Brookshire and wife, Suzie of Iowa Park, and Christina Lewis and husband, Greg of Iowa Park; 17 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren; brothers, Glenn Brookshire and wife, Jackie of Lakeside City, Texas, and Tony Brookshire and wife, Cathy of Wichita Falls, Texas. Visitation will be Friday, September 24, 2010, from 7 until 8 p.m. at Dutton Funeral Home Chapel. The family suggests memorials to Hospice of Wichita Falls, P.O. Box 4804, Wichita Falls, Texas, 76308; or Grace Tabernacle Church of Iowa Park, Texas.
