Reinhart (Reinie) Gloor passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2010, surrounded by his family, at his home in Loveland, Colo. He was 84. Reinie was born in Redfield, S.D., on April 26, 1926, to Albert and Lina Gloor, who had just emigrated from Switzerland. When Reinie was very small, his family moved to Columbus, where his parents opened Gloor's Bakery. Reinie attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, and served in the United States Navy as a musician. After completing his military service, Reinie returned to Columbus, where he worked at his parent's bakery and was a member of an orchestra, playing clarinet and saxophone. He met and married Margaret Micek, formerly of Cedar Rapids, in 1948, with whom he had four children. He purchased the bakery from his parents, and he and Margaret ran it for many years. Because of their love of Colorado's mountains, which their family had visited many times, they moved to Leadville, Colo., in 1973. In Leadville, Reinie and Margaret opened and ran Gloor's Bakery until they sold the business in 1977. They moved to Dillon, Colo., where Reinie continued working as a baker, this time as an employee of City Market. He loved being a baker and was a master at it. After he retired in 1991, he and Margaret moved to Fort Collins. Margaret died in 1995, and Reinie met and married Shirley Burow in 1997. Reinie is survived by his wife, Shirley; four children, Rebecca (T.R.) Borman, of Springfield, Va., Kristine (William) McLain, of Denver, Jennifer Sanchez, of Fort Collins, Colo., and David (Sami) Gloor, of Apache Junction, Ariz.; three stepchildren, Sherry Birchwell, of Ault, Colo., Jody (Craig) Crider, of Eaton, Colo., and Dawn Joy (Mark) Crossman, of Hot Springs, S.D.; three sisters; and numerous grandchildren; and great-grandchildren. A service will be held Monday, Nov. 15, 2010, at 2 p.m., at Discovery Fellowship Church, 6630 Brittany Drive, Fort Collins, Colo. Memorial gifts may be made to Pathways Hospice, 305 Carpenter Road, Fort Collins, Colo. 80525, in honor of Reinie Gloor.
