Bio

Billy Joe Harvell lost his battle with kidney and heart disease on August 3, 2010. He was born November 6, 1931 in Collin County and attended McKinney schools. At the age of 18 he joined the Navy and served during the Korean War aboard the LST975. Upon discharge from the Navy, he worked at the Titche-Goettinger department store in downtown Dallas, working there 17 years. When he left retail business, he was employed at the city of Dallas as a code enforcement officer. At his retirement in 1994, he was in charge of inspecting and licensing residential hotels and rooming and boarding houses. In 1979, the family moved to Lucas, TX, just a few miles from where Bill was born. Bill and his wife Jeanine looked forward to attending his LST975 reunion each year and visiting with their special friends. Bill is survived by his wife of 48 years; daughter Lori Drumm of Anna, TX; his son John Harvell of McKinney, TX; two grandchildren, Jessica and Spencer Drumm of Anna; brother CW Gallaher and his wife, Betty of Terrell, TX; sister, Jimmie Watson of Paris, TX; as well as many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, John Harvell and mother, Lura Gallaher Lawley; three sisters; and most recently by his son-in-law, Monty Drumm. Charles W.
