"Edith L. Briner, 89, Maryville, died unexpectedly May 13 at a Maryville health center. She was born April 2, 1910, in Kearney, Neb., and had been a resident of Andrew County most of her life. In 1998 she moved to Maryville. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Briner was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. On July 11, 1927, she married Lewis O. Briner in Savannah. He preceded her in death in 1971. She was also preceded in death by her parents, George W. and Olive C. (Hayes) Doty; two sons, Marvin E. Briner, in 1999, and Lewis M. Briner, in 1996; a daughter, Nina Kay Bennett in 1958; two grandsons, Tommy Casey and Joseph Michel; two granddaughters, Trudy M. Bennett and Pamela K. Briner; and a great-granddaughter, Holly N. Shurvington. Surviving are two sons, George O. Briner of Grand Junction, Colo., and Governor Briner of Savannah; five daughters, Marjorie A. Rinehardt of Atlantic, Iowa, Nellie R. Michel of Mesa, Ariz., Sandra J. Heiman of Kansas City, Mo., Penny E. Auffert of Maryville and Sherry J. Casey of King City; a grandson, Paul D. Bennett, who was raised in her home; 33 other grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Services were held on Tuesday at Meierhoffer Savannah Chapel.
