Bio
Agnes J. Kampovitz, 96, of Columbus, died Sunday, Nov. 7, 2010, at Morys Haven, in Columbus. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, in Columbus, with the Rev. Del Lape officiating. Interment will be in the St. Bonaventure Cemetery in Columbus. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, with a 7 p.m. vigil, continuing 8-10 a.m. Wednesday, all at McKown Funeral Home in Columbus. Agnes J. Kampovitz, the youngest of six children, was born Sept. 8, 1914, in Genoa, to John and Josephine (Klimek) Tomasiewicz. She grew up in the Genoa area and married John F. Kampovitz on Oct. 18, 1938, at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church - Krakow near Genoa. The couple lived and farmed near Shelby, until 1971 when they moved to an acreage near Bellwood. While on the farm Agnes was active at St. Mary's Catholic Church - Pilsno where she served as Altar Society President and was active in various church activities. In 1999 Agnes moved to the Good Samaritan Village in Hastings where she resided until Aug. of 2009, when she moved to Morys Haven in Columbus. Agnes was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and enjoyed gardening, canning, baking, sewing and playing bingo. She was very proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter, Susan (Bruce) Price, of Hastings; daughter, Terri (Andy) Dush, of Columbus; son, Frank Kampovitz; daughter, Janet (Rick) Davis; daughter-in-law, Betty Kampovitz, of Columbus; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, John F. Kampovitz; father, John Tomasiewicz; mother, Josephine Tomasiewicz; son, David S. Kampovitz; great-grandson, Tyler Dush; sister, Gertrude Augustyn; sister, Clara Micek; brother, Henry Tomasiewicz; brother, John Tomasiewicz; and brother, Phillip Tomasiewicz.
