Bio

Beverly Mae Uhl, 53, of Mapleton died Wednesday, August 31, 1983 in a Sioux City hospital after a long illness. Services were at 10:30 a.m. Friday in St Matthews Lutheran Church in Mapleton. The Rev. Phillip Ritter officiated. Burial was in Mount Hope Cemetery. There was a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the Walter Funeral Home in Mapleton. Mrs. Uhl the former Beverly Owens, was born October 9, 1929 to Gustav and Esther (Ackelbein) Owens at Mapleton. She was a lifelong resident of Mapleton except for a few years in Ute, Cherokee and Battle Creek. She married Howard J. Uhl January 12, 1947 at Ute. She worked at Tierney Drug Store and Maple Valley Pharmacy since the early 1960’s. She was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church and the Lutheran Church Women. She was preceded in death by her father. Survivors include her husband, two daughters, Connie Uhl of Mapleton and Lori Uhl of Rodney; two sons, Randy of Santa Maria, California and G Douglas of Orange City; her mother, Mrs Elizabeth Owens of Sedgwick, Kansas; two sisters, Mrs. Jim (Mary) Cunnings of Wichita, Kansas and Mrs. Edward (Donna) Colyer of Salix; four brothers, Gordon of Ute, Harold of Los Angeles, Calif, Raymond of DeForest, Wisconsin and Robert of Norfolk, Nebraska and three grandchildren. Pallbearers were Alvern Klinker, Don Koch, John Zediker, Erich Owens, Bill Pratt and Norman Klinker - Connie Swearingen Added: Feb. 21, 2015
