Bio

Jack Rayburn Taylor, 90, of Waco, passed away Sunday, Oct. 31, 2010, at Providence Hospital, after a long and courageous battle with kidney disease. Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 2, at Conerstone Baptist Church in Robinson, with the Rev. Jim Daniels and the Rev. Ivan Ker officiating. Burial will follow at Rosemound Cemetery. Jack was born in Waco, Texas, to the late Isaac "Ike" and Rayma Taylor. On Nov. 23, 1940, he married Pearl Cleavelin Taylor. They celebrated 52 years together before her death in 1993. In 1995, he married Doris Jenkins. He served proudly in the U.S. Army and worked many years for the Waco Tribune-Herald before retiring. Some of his hobbies throughout his life included fishing, camping, playing golf and he loved the Baylor Bears. Jack was an active member of Cornerstone Baptist Church. He had many many friends throughout his life, and it seemed like everywhere he went he ran into someone he knew. He is survived by his wife, Doris; sons, Rayburn Taylor and wife, Carolyn, of Hewitt, Larry Taylor, of Lorena, and Jim Taylor, of Waco; daughter, Cindy Barr and husband, Mike, of Hewitt; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren; his sister, Billie Svoboda; nephew, Reggie Meier; step-daughter, Rhonda Swanson and husband, Steve; and step-grandson, Justin Swanson.
