UNION GAP - Arnold "Pete" McCarty, 77, of Union Gap, passed away peacefully at home, September 24, 2010. He was born July 19, 1933 in Elgin, Oklahoma to Estel and Artie (Barryhill) McCarty. After graduating from high school Pete joined the U.S. Army. His tour of duty started in May of 1952, during the Korean Conflict; he was honorably discharged in May of 1955. Pete worked as an Ironworker until he was eligible for early retirement. For the last nine years he has worked at the EPIC School. Pete is survived by his two daughters, Susanne (Rick) Adams of Granger and Roxanne (Roger) Brittain of Naches; three grandchildren; three great grandchildren; a sister, Pauline and a step-sister, Shirley. He was preceded in death by his wife Donna, parents, two brothers and one daughter. A graveside inurnment will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 5, 2010 at Terrace Heights Memorial Park, Yakima.
