From The Wolbach Messenger, August 21, 1975, page 1, transcribed by Linda Berney: Grossart Rites Held Tuesday -- Funeral services for Victor J. Grossart, 62, of Wolbach were conducted Tuesday, August 19 at 2 PM in the Trinity Lutheran Church in Wolbach with the Rev. Donald Nelson officiating. Mr. Grossart, a Wolbach businessman, died Saturday, August 16, 1975 at a Grand Island hospital. Mrs. Larry Steenson sang "Thy Will be done" accompanied by the organist, Mrs. William Paulman, Jr. Casketbearers were Laurence Berney, Leon Berney, William Grossart, Glenn Grossart, Everett Cook and Harold Coe. Burial was in the Hillside Cemetery. McIntyre-Jacobsen Funeral Home of Wolbach was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Grossart was born January 5, 1913 in Howard county, the son of John and Lena Berney Grossart. He attended a rural school near Wolbach and grew to manhood on a farm in that area. On August 18, 1937, he married Zola McIntyre. The couple lived in Wolbach where he managed McIntyre Hardware until 1944. In 1944 he entered the Army, serving in the Philippines and Japan. After his discharge in 1946, Mr. Grossart purchased the McIntyre Hardware and later added to the business the Grossart Propane. In 1972, the Grossart and Luft Trucking Firm was established. In 1974 the business names were changed to Grossarts Inc. of Wolbach and Grossart and Luft, Inc of Grand Island. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and the Ray Mapes American Legion Post No 236 of Wolbach. He served on the Wolbach Fire Department, the Village Board and the School Board. Survivors include his widow; one daughter, Mrs. Loel (Sandra) Luft of Grand Island; one son Steve of Wolbach; four grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Nina Holm of Wolbach. He was preceded in death by his parents.
