Bio

Melvin Gene Klanika of Leroy, a diesel mechanic, died Friday in a Hubbard nursing home. He was 49. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Gerald Cemetery near Leroy, the Rev. Jack McKinney officiating. Mr. Klanika was born March 15, 1946, in Waco. He graduated from Axtell High School in 1966 and from diesel mechanic school in 1990. Survivors include his mother, Christine Zimmerhanzel of Leroy; a son, Troy Klanika of Austin; a daughter, Teresa Klanika of Austin; and two brothers, Charlie Klanika of Mount Calm and Jodie Klanika of Leroy. The family will receive visitors from 3 to 5 p.m. today at Aderhold Funeral Home in West.
