She graduated from Corpus Christi High School in 1935. Della married Emil Elzner on October 10, 1939. She and Emil reared eight children before she returned to college to obtain her degree to teach. She enjoyed cooking for a crowd, gardening, and playing games of any sort; dominoes, Tarocks, poker and RummiCube, to name a few. Della was a woman of great faith and volunteered at St. Pius X Church, where she served on the Altar Society and in many other capacities. She was proud of her Czech heritage, traveled to the Czech Republic many times, sang with the Czech Singers, and loved to bake kolaces. She was a member of SPJST, Sokol, Moravian, and the Circle of Women. Della was preceded in death by her husband Emil, daughter Kathleen, sons Larry and Richard and siblings Victor, Albert, Sylvia and Lillian. She is survived by her twin sister, Ella Simcik and sister, Albertina Oakes, three sons, Jim (Irma), Dennis (Nancy), and Leonard (Susan), and two daughters, Linda Zaludek (Cliff Long) and Becky Elzner (Dan Jackson), and daughter-in-law Beverly Elzner as well as 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff at VistaCare Hospice, and especially to Della's helpers Diane, Irene and Gracie at Trinity Towers. Pallbearers will be Danny Elzner, Jimmy Elzner, Lance Elzner, Adam Elzner, Jenner Encarguez, Donald Padgett and Ben Beadles. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 27, 2010 from 3:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at St. Pius X Catholic Church with a Rosary to be held at 5:00 P.M. that same day.
