CELESTE MAXINE BORMAN of Friendswood passed away on October 24, 2010 at the age of 99. She was born in Houston on July 22, 1911. She is preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Charles Borman. Celeste is survived by her daughters, Jennie Schubert and husband Rudy, Mary Rogers and husband Bob; granddaughters, Lisa McMillan, Kim Phelps, Mandy Scott, Jamie Rogers; grandson, Bryan Rogers and seven great-grandchildren. Celeste attended Sam Houston High School in Houston and was an officer in the original Black Battalion drill team. For many years, she was employed at Houston Laboratories. After retirement, Celeste enjoyed playing bridge and traveling. She was also active in the Catholic Community of St Luke the Evangelist Chapter of Catholic Daughters. The visitation will be Wednesday from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, with a Rosary prayed at 7:00 pm, at Niday Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, October 28th at 10:30 am, at St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Forest Park Lawndale. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations honoring Celeste may be made to the Catholic Daughter's scholarship fund in care of Court Mother of Unity 2292, Catholic Community of St. Luke the Evangelist, 11011 Hall Road, Houston, Texas 77089.
