DALHART - Edna Stowe Gilliland Heiskell, 86, died Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2010. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in First Baptist Church in Dalhart with the Rev. Bob McAlister, minister to senior adults, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Horizon Funeral Home. Edna was born April 7, 1924, in Clapham, N.M., to Horace C and Mary B. Scarbrough Gilliland. She grew up in Clapham before moving to Clayton, N.M., to complete high school. She married Chester Floyd Heiskell on Dec. 16, 1945, in Clayton. They traveled all over the southwest building concrete grain storage systems before moving to Dalhart in the late '50s. Edna was an active member of First Baptist Church and enjoyed her family and friends. She also was a member of the 55 plus club and an active member of the Dalhart Senior Citizens Center. She enjoyed playing dominoes with the 42 club. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Robert Heiskell; and three brothers. Survivors include a son, Alan Heiskell and wife April of York, S.C.; a daughter, Gwen Bowers and husband Don of Dalhart; seven grandchildren, Chip Bowers and wife Audri of Fredericksburg, Jarret Bowers and wife Jennifer and Nicole Bowers, all of Dalhart, Melody Unikel and husband Todd of Reston, Va., Ben Heiskell of Norwalk, Conn., Jeff Heiskell of Atlanta and Clay Heiskell of Houston; and seven great-grandchildren.
