He Passed Away at His House Saturday, August 7, at 5:30 P.M. Just returned from David City, and joking with members of his family about some purchases he had made, John P. Didier, for 40 years a respected resident of Butler county, was stricken with apoplexy at his home in Olive township at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, August 7, and died almost instantly. Death was as painless as it was sudden. Funeral services for Mr. Didier were held at 9:30 o'clock Monday morning, Aug. 9, in St. Peter's Catholic church, Bellwood, of which church Mr. Didier was a member. In the absence of the pastor of that church, Rev. Father Mock, of St. Mary's church, Luxemburg, conducted the funeral services, assisted in Requiem Mass by Rev. Father Sproll, of St. Mary's church, David City, and Rev. Father Wagner of Shelby and the choir of St. Peter's church. The pallbearers were Michael Birkel, Peter Demuth, John Fohl, Nicholas Schmit, Cornelius Schmit and John Spiker. Interment was in St. Mary's cemetery, Luxemburg. In attendance at the funeral from outside Butler county were Nicholas Didier of White River, S. Dak., and Ferdinand Didier of Clarks, Neb., sons of the deceased, Mrs. John Siebenaler of Olpe, Kas., a niece, John Miller of Primrose, Neb., a nephew, and Mr. and Mrs. John Bischler of Callaway, Nebraska, and Mrs. Wyand Becker of Gregory, S. Dak. Mrs. Bischler and Mrs. Becker are sisters of Mrs. Didier. John Peter Didier was in the 64th year of his age. Born in Niederdon, Luxemburg, Europe, September 29, 1856, he grew to manhood there. He was married in Luxemburg to Mary Moes February 9, 1880. Mr. and Mrs. Didier came to the United States and to Nebraska and Butler county in the spring of 1880. Twelve children were born to them, three of whom are dead. Mrs. Didier and six sons and three daughters survive Mr. Didier. The surviving children are Peter Didier of Olive township, Mrs. M. M. Demuth of Savannah township, Ferdinand Didier of Clarks, Merrick county, John P. Didier, Jr., of Olive township, Miss Katherine Didier of Olive township, William Didier of White River, S. Dak., and Cornelius and Susie Didier of Olive township. One brother, Nicholas Didier, of Los Angeles, Calif., also survives Mr. Didier. A worthy citizen in every way, John P. Didier had the esteem and regard of all who knew him. He owned a farm of 160 acres in Olive township. At the time of his death he was a member of the Democratic county committee and had been for a number of years. He had been honored by his party in election as delegate to Democratic state conventions.
