Bio
Basil H. Buras was born in Nebraska to Arthur J. and Mary A. Buras. Arthur came from Poland as a young boy in 1894, and was a barber in a barbershop. He spoke Polish as a child. Mary was born in Nebraska, but had Polish parents. The 1920 US Census shows the family living on East 2nd Street in Fremont, Dodge County, Nebraska. It was a full household, because in addition to 6 year old Basil and his 3 year old sister, Agnes, Mary cared for three roomers. Arthur J. Buras, 30, head, barber, barbershop Mary A. Buras,5, daughter In June, 1935, Basil H. Buras, 22, married Salvina E Kontor, 21, in Omaha, Nebraska.
