Obituary from The Star-Herald 14 Oct 2010 BRIDGEPORT - John W. Didier, 86, died Monday, Oct. 11, 2010, at the Heritage of Bridgeport Nursing Home in Bridgeport, surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, at the Bridgeport Memorial Chapel, 716 Main Street in Bridgeport, with Reverend David Rykwalder officiating. Burial will follow at the Sunset Memorial Park, in Scottsbluff. Visitations will be Friday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Chapel. John was born April 21, 1924 in Clarks, Neb. to Lydia (Cerny) and Ferdinand Didier. He married Lucille Bernard on Aug. 18, 1945. To this union eight children were born. John served in the United States Army and was stationed in Paris, Texas and Lawton, Okla. After his discharge they moved to Central City, Neb. where John started working as a mechanic. In 1951 they moved to Sidney and then on to Bridgeport in 1954 where he opened his own mechanic shop. He worked for Bridgeport Chrysler Plymouth from 1968-1972 before moving to Scottsbluff to work for Dalton Buick. John married Mary Crouse in 1973. After he retired, he enjoyed restoring and selling pickups. He was known to be the best carburetor mechanic in the area. Following Mary's death in 2003, he moved back to Bridgeport and was enjoyed by his children and grandchildren for seven years. Survivors include his children, Jeanie (Jim) Bacon of Louisville, Colo., Barbara (Dave) Sorenson of Wild Wood, Mo., Tom (Deann) Didier of Rapid City, S.D., Don (Deanne) Didier of Bridgeport, Duane (Elly) Didier of Longmont, Colo., Eileen (Doug) McCloud of Bridgeport, Laura (Mark) Wickard of Bridgeport, and Lynelle (Paul) Hoxworth of Bridgeport; brother, Harry (Alice) Didier of Gering; sister-in-law, Elena Didier of Rockaway Beach, Ore.; twenty-two grandkids; nineteen great-grandkids with two more on the way; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, both wives, Lucille and Mary, two sisters, and two brothers.
