Bio

John K. Martin, 77, 104 Jonas Street, died at 7:07 a.m. Tuesday in Memorial Hospital. He had retired as a bridge and construction worker with the Rio Grande Railroad in Colorado in 1969. He moved to Sulphur Springs six years ago. He was born October 3, 1904 at Dike, son of James Andrew (Jim) and Arvilla Kays Martin. Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Addie Martin Hammond of Dallas; and three brothers, Edgar Martin of Bakersfield, California, James Royce Martin of San Jose, California, and Bert A. Martin of Sulphur Springs. Funeral Services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home with Dr. Charles Redmond officiating. Burial followed in Nelta Cemetery, with John Lindley, Dub Collins, Wilbur Boyd, Clyde Argenbright, John Dilts and Kyle Craver serving as pallbearers.
