Bio

Louise M. Thorne, age 94, of York, NE, died Monday, October 11, 2010 at York. She was born October 11, 1916 at David City, NE to John and Anna (Turek) Litty. She was a 1934 graduate of Seward High School. Louise previously worked in several different places in the York and Seward area including the Fairmont Creamery for ten years, and as the manager of the Ice Cream Store in Seward. Louise and Morris M. Thorne were married on December 31, 1945 at York. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in York, Catholic Daughter's of America, Alter Society, and an Auxiliary member of the Legion of Mary. Louise was a 4-H leader when her children were younger as well as a volunteer in her children's school. Left to cherish her memory are two sons, Donald (Sharyn) Thorne of Calbert, WA and David Thorne of York; one daughter, Jeanne (Floyd) Marsh of Scottsdale, AZ; five grandchildren; one sister, Lillian (Clayton) Verlo of LaCross, WI; and one sister-in-law, Florence Litty of Seward, NE. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, son Robert, and three brothers, Leonard and Leslie, and Anthony. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 16, 2010 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in York with burial following in St. Joseph Cemetery. A Rosary will be said Friday at 6:00 p.m. at Metz Mortuary. Visitation will be from 1-9 p.m. Thursday and 9-9 Friday at the mortuary. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Joseph School, the American Cancer Society or the donor's choice.
