Joseph Buddy Oujesky, 74, a strong man and dedicated Catholic, left his temporary home for an eternal one on Sunday, Oct. 10, 2010. Service: 10 a.m. Thursday at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church. Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery. Rosary: 6 p.m. Wednesday in Greenwood Funeral Home Chapel. Pallbearers: Bill McClure, Byron Searcy, Robert Wright, Homer Ludiker, Jerrell Glass, and Kent Henry. Honorary pallbearers: Jim Binion, Gordon Pridemore, Kenneth Hogan, Pat McBee, Warren Boling, Wes Simpson, Joe Paul Taylor, and Mark Marsden. Buddy was born July 27, 1936, and grew up on the Northside of Fort Worth. His passion was football and he was an all-district tackle at J.P. Elder and North Side High School, where he was named to the All-State team. He went to the University of Oklahoma on a scholarship and played on two national championship teams coached by Bud Wilkinson. He was part of the historic collegiate team that won 47 straight games. In 1958 he married his wife, Joy, and went to work for Jones-Laughlin Oil Field Supply Co. in Casper, Wyo. As an officer, he went to IOLC at Fort Benning, Ga., and Fort Hood, Texas. He and Joy also lived in Wichita Falls and Electra with Jones-Laughlin, eventually ending up in Lafayette, La. He then took a job with Mobil Oil in their real estate division. Their son, Ray, was born while they lived in Electra and two years later their son Robert was born. Suzanne followed four years later. Buddy was offered a job with Kimbell, so they left Mobil in Houston to work for what later became Winn-Dixie, Inc. A 30-year career with Winn-Dixie in Fort Worth enabled him to pursue officiating football games for 40 years starting with pee-wee games and ending with 25 years of major college games. In retirement he enjoyed running the clock for basketball and football games at TCU, as well as golfing with his friends. He volunteered his time to deliver food for Meals on Wheels, Inc. of Tarrant County through St. John's Catholic Church. Survivors: Wife, Joy; sons, Ray and wife, Rita, and Robert and wife, Angela; daughter, Suzanne Oujesky; sister, Janie Brown and husband, Joe, of Ashland, Ore.; brother, Robert and wife, Janell; and granddaughters, Madeline and Jillian Oujesky of North Richland Hills.
