Find A Grave contributor Earth Angel submitted the following... RICHARD L. SURATT 1913 - 2004 Richard L. Suratt, a resident of Dothan, died Monday, July 26, 2004, at Flowers Hospital following a short illness. He was 91. Mr. Suratt was born July 22, 1913 in Hampton, Virginia. He was a graduate of Hampton High School and VA Tech where he received his BS degree in engineering. He served in the US Army during WWII in the European and Pacific Theatre of War. He was the recipient of the Bronze Star and discharged having attained the rank of Major. His retirement years were spent in Pensacola, FL. and for the last three years had made his home in Dothan. In Pensacola he attended the Christ Episcopal Church and more recently his pastorial care was from Evangel Assembly of God Church in Dothan. Major Suratt was predeceased by his wife, Verniece Thomley Suratt. Survivors include three nieces, Cynthia McNab, Connie Cogburn and Katherine Turner; two nephews, Jimmy Thomley and Ronnie Thomley. Also surviving are several great-nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 30, 2004 at Bethel Baptist Church, Elsanor, Alabama (near Robertsdale, AL) with Rev. Myrice McNab officiating. Burial will follow in Hale Memorial Cemetery with Byrd Funeral Home directing. Pensacola News Journal, Pensacola, Florida 2004
