Evening Journal January 16, 1948 Publisher's Widow Claimed By Death Mrs. Ed Howard, 75, died this morning in a Wichita Falls hospital, less than 24 hours after funeral services for her husband, publisher of the Wichita Daily Times and Wichita Falls Record News. Howard, Texas publisher for six decades, died Tuesday night and funeral services were held yesterday afternoon. He was 81. Mrs. Howard's condition, already critical, had grown rapidly worse since her husband's death. The two had occupied adjoining hospital rooms. Survivors include two sons, Rhea and Leslie Howard; a granddaughter, Mrs. James Barnett; three grandchildren, all of Wichita Falls; a brother, Leon Maloney, Wolfe City, Tex., and two sisters, Mr. M. H. Caldwell, Wolfe City, and Mrs. Roscoe Reed, McKinney. Mrs. Howard was born in Wolfe City, where the Howards were married in 1891. She had been active in the Presbyterian church throughout her life and took a leading role i civic affairs.
