Bio

The Wellington Leader November 20, 1986 J. Y. (Jim) Martin, 69 years of age retired businessman, died Wednesday, November 12, 1986, in Collingsworth General Hospital. Mr Martin was born May 25, 1917, in Sulphur Springs, Texas, the son of Charles F. Martin and Francis Anderson Martin. He graduated from Lakeview High School in 1939. He married Novia Lowe December 25, 1940 in Wellington. They returned to Quail Store and Station until 1949, when he became a partner of Brett to O K tire store in Wellington. He later was the sole owner of the business, until he sold the business to his son, Danny in 1960. He was a member of First Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Novia Martin; Danny Martin of Wellington and Don Martin of Amarillo, one daughter, Jeannie Morris, two brothers, Bill Martin of San Diego; and Archie Martin of Dallas, three sisters, Minnie Arguello of San Diego, Jean Miles and Wayne Willingham, both of Dallas; seven grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. He was preceded In death by a grandson, Billy Eldon Morris Jr., December 28, 1985.
