CARLSBAD CURRENT-ARGUS Carlsbad, Eddy County, New Mexico February 2, 1990 LOFTIS Graveside service for H.C. "Shorty" Loftis is to be held 4 p.m. Monday at Carlsbad Cemetery. Mr. Loftis, 83, died Friday. The Rev. Wilbur Roberts of the Fox and Walnut Church of God is to conduct the service. A resident of 1920 Texas St., Mr. Loftis was born Jan. 8, 1907, in Denison, Texas. He moved to Carlsbad in 1934 and worked as a city mechanic until 1946. He operated the Loftis Garage from 1946 until 1978. He is survived by two sons, Bob Loftis of Waxahatchie, Texas, and Wayne Loftis of Eagle Point, Ore.; four daughters, Bernice Rhoades and Cecilia Price of Carlsbad, Clotel Porter of Atlanta and Gloria Bailey of Show Low, Ariz.; two sisters, Lula Mae Irvin and Evelyn Norris, both of Carlsbad; 22 grandchildren and 44 great-grandechildren.
