C. Bates Mrs. F. C. Bates, 70, a resident of San Angelo for 19 years, died at 4 o'clock Saturday morning at the family residence, 25 E. 19th. Funeral services are to be conducted from Johnson's Funeral Chapel at 2 o'clock Monday alter-noon with the Rev. Taylor Her/ey, pastor of Immanuel Baptist Church here, officiating. Burial will be in the Eldorado Cemetery. A native of Mason County, Mrs. Bates was the daughter-in-law of the late F. C. Bates, Sr., pioneer West Texan who assisted in the organization of Schleicher County. The entire citizenship of Schleicher County has been named as honorary pallbearers. Survivors include the husband, F. C. Bates; a son, Noel B. Bates; and a daughter, Mrs. Dub Phillips, all of San Angelo. Three grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survive. Pallbearers are to be Charley Poulter, Curtis Carter, Kent Mitchell, John Tumlinson, O. A. Carr, and H. J. Caldwell. The electric blanket cut out Saturday morning. The flash light went dead The clock stopped. Mrs. F. C. Bates died. The surviving husband recalled these unusual things as Mrs. Bates was buried. Monday afternoon. It was as though the current of activity and of life had pointed to the death.
