Bio

Lela Elizabeth Fergerson, the daughter of William Wilburn Fergerson (Furgerson, Ferguson) and Mary Henrietta 'Retta' Williams, was born on July 20, 1884 in Upshur County, Texas. She married Cooper B. Loveless (Lovelace) on February 8, 1904 at Pittsburg, Camp, Texas. Lela had eight children, two of which preceded her in death. An infant son, lived only six weeks, died in about 1907 and 'T.J.' an infant daughter died in about 1912. These children may also be buried at Rose Hill Cemetery. The other children, Verta May, Anie Dee, Mabel, Abe 'Broug', Margaret and Oliver Zane Loveless and their father, Cooper B. Loveless moved on to Oklahoma following Lela's death. Lela died during WWI and when times were tough for her family. Her children remember living across the road from the Rose Hill Cemetery, and when she died, they remember the casket being carried by the pallbearers across the snow covered ground to be buried. Mabel remembered picking up old flowers and sea-shells to be placed on her mother's grave so that she would have a marker.
