Bio

Dandridge, Glyn Edward was born August 21, 1929 in Ennis, Texas to Thomas L. and Opal Christine Dandridge. He graduated from Ennis High School in 1948 and attended The University of North Texas. He participated in the Naval Air Reserve for two and a half years. Glyn also spent 2 years in the US Army Engineers at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO. He was in the plumbing supply business for 11 years. Then in 1960, he went to work for Rohan Co., which was later bought out by CertainTeed Corp., a waterworks supply company. Other than a 3-year interim with Dallas-based company, E.L. Dalton, Glyn worked for CertainTeed for 30 years. He worked in sales, traveling throughout TX, OK, AR, and LA. He was the Branch Manager at several locations and also served as President of a CertainTeed division in Louisiana, retiring in 1991. Glyn met his wife, Phyllis, in 1954. They were married in Durant, OK on May 25, 1956. Glyn is preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Wolsey Dandridge, mother, Opal Christine Dandridge, and father, Thomas L. Dandridge. He is survived by son, Michael E. and wife Frances Dandridge, daughter Michele Dandridge, daughter, Mindee and husband Ron O'Connell, grand- daughters, Nicole, Kristen, and Courtnee O'Connell, grandson Christopher Dandridge, great- grandson Gregory, Aunt Alva E Johnston, and many cousins and friends. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, Monday, September 27, 2010 at Sparkman-Richardson Funeral Home Chapel. A Memorial Service will follow at 10:00 AM in the Chapel. Interment will follow at Restland Memorial Park in Dallas, TX. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org.
