Bio

Esther M. Ellison, of El Reno, died Sunday, September 26, 2010, at Mercy Hospital in El Reno. She was born December 10, 1914 to Frank and Josephine (Klemmich) Janko. Esther grew up in the Moore area and attended schools there. She and her husband, Cassie Sidney Ellison, lived and farmed in the Union City area for 6 years before moving to a farm south of El Reno, where they lived for 31 years before moving to El Reno in 1977. Esther was an Agent with Farmers Union Insurance for 25 years. She was also a homemaker. Esther was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church for over 63 years, she was also a member of Oklahoma Farmers Union, Women's Culture Club, Canadian County mineral owners, and Wesley Quilters for 30 years. She received special recognition as Canadian County Homemaker of the in year in 1987, and Canadian County FCE Citizen of the year in 1993. Esther received 10-year Service Pins as a volunteer with the Red Cross, and special mission recognition with United Methodist Women, receiving 2 Pins. Esther was preceded in death by her husband in 1979, her parents, and 10 brothers and sisters. Survivors include her daughters: Marilyn Ewing and husband, Robert, of Richmond, TX; and Nadine Wilkerson and husband, Frank, of Oklahoma City; her grandchildren: Bradley Ewing and wife, Natalie; Rodney Ewing; Darrel Wilkerson and wife, Rena; Bruce Wilkerson and wife, Robin; and Bryan Wilkerson and wife, Cindy; her great-grandchildren: Timothy Ewing; Rikki Kirby and husband, Joshua; Eli Wilkerson; Caleb Wilkerson; Ariel Wilkerson; and Grady Wilkerson; great-great-grandchildren: Obadiah Kirby, Samuel Kirby and Abigail Kirby. The family suggests, in lieu of flowers, that memorials be made to either Wesley United Methodist Church, 101 S. Barker, El Reno, OK 73036; Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, 825 N.E. 13th St., Oklahoma City, OK 73104-9930; or to the charity of your choice. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, September 29th, at Wesley United Methodist Church in El Reno. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 P.M., Wednesday, September 29th, at Moore Cemetery in Moore, OK. Services are under direction of Wilson Funeral Home.
